A beautifully preserved Gràcia bodega for house vermouth, cask wine, anchovies and the gentle ritual of an aperitif becoming lunch.
Bar Bodega Quimet has served Gràcia since the 1950s, and its hydraulic tiles, wooden barrels, white marble tables and crowded shelves preserve the physical grammar of a traditional neighbourhood cellar. The present owners have expanded the food without flattening that identity. Start with the award-winning house vermouth or a glass of wine, then build an aperitif from anchovies, banderillas, olives, cured meats, cheese and homemade ensaladilla. If the visit grows into a meal, add oysters, seafood salad, aubergine tartare or octopus. The cooking remains direct and generous, designed to support drinking and conversation rather than compete with them. Sunday lunchtime and the early evening are especially convivial, although the compact room fills quickly; smaller groups fit the space best. Quimet is polished enough to be dependable but still feels genuinely local. The pleasure lies in repetition—the same marble table, another vermouth, one more small plate—and in seeing an old Barcelona ritual continue without costume or nostalgia.
