Begin with herring in oil or sour cream and potatoes in their jackets. Then choose between a proper żurek, red beet soup with meat-filled kołduny, pierogi with meat or cabbage and mushrooms, and a pork chop with potatoes and fried cabbage. The Dominican-style ribs are built for a serious appetite; the old-Polish bigos with sausage is the culinary equivalent of a wool blanket in winter. Fish has not been forgotten - cod, trout, halibut and salmon all appear in hearty sets with potatoes or fries and salads. This is not a temple of tiny portions or long explanations. It is a convivial address where the menu is broad, the plates are full, and everyone at the table can find a version of Poland to love. Arrive hungry; ordering ‘just a little’ is not really part of the concept.
