LL Bar

LL Bar has staged drag in Chueca since 1995 and still feels more immediate than polished. The room is intimate, the audience stands close to the performers, and every raised eyebrow can travel to the back wall. Shows run nightly from late evening, with a cover charge that includes a drink; arrive before the performance if you want a useful sightline. The drinks are simple, strong and secondary to the stage. What matters is the cast’s command of lip-sync, comedy and audience contact, sharpened in a venue often described as Madrid’s university of drag. Spanish helps with the jokes but is not essential to the pleasure, provided you are willing to be noticed. LL also helped launch Chueca’s famous High Heels Race, and its history gives the bar a sense of continuity in a neighbourhood where nightlife changes quickly. Do not come expecting a grand cabaret room or distant spectacle. This is close-range drag, communal and slightly chaotic, with no VIP ritual to separate the audience from the action. The lack of distance is the entire charm.
