Purpose of the site and terms of use

The Nice Places is an editorial travel companion. We publish a small, hand-picked selection of destinations, places to eat, sleep, swim and linger, together with an AI curator that answers questions using only that published selection. Access to the public pages is free. Creating an account allows you to save trips and places. By using the site you agree to use it lawfully, not to attempt to disrupt or scrape it, and not to reuse our content commercially without written permission. We may change, suspend or withdraw all or part of the service, in particular for maintenance, without liability. Editorial recommendations reflect subjective judgement; nothing here is a guarantee of availability, price, opening hours, or of your enjoyment.

Intellectual property

The design of the site, its editorial texts, its structure, the selection and arrangement of the database, and the assets we own are protected by copyright and by database rights. Some photographs, logos and factual details about venues belong to their respective owners and are used for editorial illustration or reproduced from public sources such as OpenStreetMap. Rights remain with their holders. If you own rights to something published here and would like it credited differently or removed, write to us and we will act promptly.

External links and liability

The site contains links to third-party websites — venues, booking platforms, maps. We have no control over their content, availability or privacy practices and accept no liability for them. Information published on The Nice Places is provided in good faith and kept up to date as carefully as we can, but we give no warranty that it is complete, accurate or current, and we cannot be held liable for indirect loss arising from its use.

What we process and why

International transfers

Some of our providers operate outside the European Union. Where that is the case, transfers are covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision. You may ask us for details of the safeguards in place.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and, where processing is based on consent or a contract and carried out by automated means, to receive it in a portable format. You may also give instructions about what happens to your data after your death. To exercise these rights, write to the privacy contact below with enough information for us to identify you. We aim to answer within one month, as the regulation requires; that period may be extended for complex requests, in which case we will tell you. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority.

Security and updates to this page

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including access controls, row-level database security, and encrypted transport. No system is perfectly secure, and we will inform you and the CNIL as required if a breach affects your rights.
