Tvåkanten has stood on Avenyn under the same ownership since 1986, evolving from a café into one of Göteborg’s dependable Swedish restaurants. Original brick walls, warm colours and a conversational bar keep the room relaxed despite its central address. The kitchen relies largely on Swedish ingredients from smaller producers, with seafood, cheese and charcuterie displayed through the restaurant’s deli. Toast Skagen, Wallenbergare and house meatballs provide the clearest introduction, while seasonal fish and meat dishes show a more contemporary hand. A Swedish-focused drinks list is worth exploring, especially if unfamiliar local beer, cider or aquavit appeals. Two terraces extend the restaurant in summer, though the street-facing position is naturally more lively than secluded. Lunch offers the easiest value; dinner suits a longer order and a bottle of wine. Tvåkanten is neither a destination tasting menu nor a casual canteen. It occupies the useful middle ground: recognisably Swedish cooking, enough polish for an occasion and enough warmth that returning the following week would not feel excessive.
